Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions, I’ve got answers. Let’s get to it!

What is documentary Photography?

All my sessions are run documentary style which is a fancy way of saying they're very relaxed! The best moments happen when you're all in a familiar place - so that can be at your home, a favorite spot for a day out, or even on a walk through the village. You enjoy a day with your family and I will be there to capture the smiles, the laughter, and even the meltdowns (no need to by shy; they happen to the best of us). I'm always happy to dedicate a short amount of time to the classic group portrait where everyone is looking at the camera, but the majority of the shoot will be candid and organic with very little direction from me.

What Should I Expect?

The biggest difference with documentary photography is that it won't really feel like a photoshoot! Your only job is to enjoy some undistracted time with your people, and in return, you will end up with beautiful photographs to remember it by. With children in the mix, you will have plenty to keep you busy. My best suggestion is to go with the flow and let your little one guide the pace. I can then advise you on the best format for printing or framing your favorite images. I will walk you through every step of the process and happily answer as many questions as you may have until you're comfortable! My newborn and family sessions are roughly one hour long; depending on how shy or outgoing everyone is feeling. I always make sure I have great shots of each family member as well as the group and will keep shooting until that's been accomplished!

How Do We See Our Photos?

After our session, I will pick the very best photographs and edit each one individually to give you the best of the best. I allot two weeks for editing but truth be told, they're usually ready before that as I get so excited to share them with you. Once your images are ready, we will meet for your gallery reveal, usually at your home, if that's convenient for you. You'll then pick your "must haves" and how you'd like them whether wall art, an album, or as matted prints. You'll place your order, I'll send it in to the lab, and within a couple weeks (depending on items chosen), they'll be hand delivered to your door. All my wall art includes complimentary professional installation so you don't have to lift a finger!

HoW Much Will This Cost?

I treat each client with care and invest at least an hour of shoot time, another several hours editing and preparing your gallery, in addition to the gallery reveal and final order placement. For that reason, each session is bookable with a £175 session fee which covers my time, talent, and expertise in addition to a complimentary Print Box with ten 4"x6" prints (this does not include digitals). Most of my clients fall in love with more than the ten complimentary photos and choose to upgrade to the Folio Box and digitals. While there is no obligation to do so, I am always happy to help create a bespoke package of prints, albums and wall art.
